15.1hh Cob x Trotter Mare for sale

Honest Advert – Please read the full advert before contacting about her. Posting on behalf of a friend.
Calypso is a 15/15.1hh Cob x Trotter, mare. She will be turning 8 this year.
Backed as a 5 year old slowly and the owner has had her from 6 months old.
She is very bright, and loves to learn and please in her ridden work. She is a horse that thrives off of being ridden and seeing/interacting with people, so needs riding regularly as she doesn’t like just sitting in a field. We have so many photos and videos of her being ridden. She is microchipped and passported. Currently hogged due to her rubbing her mane!
She has three lovely paces and holds herself in an outline (as well as when being asked by the rider) and takes up the contact really well. Also listens to her rider’s aids very well and is responsive as soon as you ask something of her.
She lunges well, with no training aids – but is also used to lunging aids too. She also long reins well, listening to all voice commands.
She absolutely loves her jumping and this is something she gets a real spring in her step for, however hasn’t done too much of this so is green and can occasionally be wobbly into fences. She has currently jumped up to around 60cm however she could definitely go higher once she understands and learns more in this discipline.
Can get excitable when ridden as she just loves working and being ridden – she shows this by only being more forward in herself, there is absolutely nothing nasty or no naughty behaviour whatsoever. She doesn’t buck, rear or kick.
She hacks out alone and in company, and is good in traffic. She is forward when hacking, but again this is only as she loves being out and about. She is super in open spaces and has never bolted off.
Is good for vet, dentist and farrier. Her vaccinations are up to date and has been wormed regularly. Loads onto a trailer and travels well. She’s recently had the farrier, dentist and saddler out and there are no issues. She had her back done recently too and there was a fair bit of tension found, but there isn’t a particular reason for this, so this is something that may need keeping on top of.
She had some time off over summer due to not having enough time with 5 other horses, however has been back in work since October and you wouldn’t have known she had been out of consistent work! She can be ridden by anyone and has had nervous, novice and experienced riders on her.
She is still showing some signs of growing, and can get bum high.
We think that she would make a great mother/daughter share and that she would do really well in the show ring.
She can be hacked by anyone when she is in company, however when hacking out alone she needs a more confident rider as she looks to the rider for confidence if she is unsure of something and has a ‘baby’ moment.
If she is to travel in a lorry, she does need work to load on a lorry.
If she is left for periods of time, she tends to get bored and can get grumpy/feisty and very mareish if she’s not handled daily. With this being said, she needs an experienced and confident handler on the ground due to the fact that she can be unsure with new people, and needs to get to know you before she trusts you. She does need some time spent with her on the ground – she has all the ground work done with her however she is mareish/opinionated and can sometimes pull faces and be bitey.
Can be fidgety at mounting block and can be fidgety when getting on using stirrups – this will come with more time and groundwork but unfortunately we don’t have the time to do all of this with her – for the time being, we swing our leg over the saddle to get on.
Can throw a small bounce when saddle first gets put on, but this only happens if you faff around too much and take too much time before putting it on.
She will come with new fitted tack and full wardrobe. Please pm me, or call Sarah on 07763184965 if interested and for more details/information. Based Hertfordshire.
